Eviction Prevention

In order to assist house members in keeping their housing, CRC Self Help practices the following eviction prevention measures:

  • Reasonable and feasible payment plans.
  • If an arrears issue is brought before the Landlord and Tenant Board, CRC Self Help utilizes the services of the Tribunal mediators in order to assist both parties (tenant and CRC Self Help) in resolution.
  • If a tenant's conduct is disruptive to the house, CRC Self Help works with the tenant and attempts to develop a housing plan that has attainable goals so that the resident maintain their housing.
  • CRC Self Help utilizes the services of the Tenant Advocate from CRC Connect (CRC Self Help’s sister agency). The Tenant Advocate meets privately with the tenant in order to listen to the tenant's concerns and assist the tenant in finding solutions to maintain their tenancy. The Tenant Advocate works with the tenant to help the tenant to understand their rights and responsibilities.
  • CRC Self Help offers Alternative Dispute Resolution and Mediation services for residents experiencing conflict with another house mate or if the house members collectively are disrupted by a tenant's individual behavior.

These measures assist tenants in taking full control of their housing and learning skills in maintaining their housing
