House Interviews

What is a house interview?

From time to time units become available in the house and a new resident needs to be selected. A house interview is an opportunity for current residents to participate in the selection process by meeting with a potential applicant to meet to get an idea of what it would be like to live with one another in the same house.

Why are house interviews important?

Residents, not the staff of CRC Self Help, have to live with one another day-in and day-out. Therefore, it only makes sense to include residents in the resident selection process. People can usually get a good sense of one another from first impressions. Meeting one another before becoming housemates creates an opportunity for an applicant and the residents to give one another an idea of their personality and what is important to them in a shared-living environment. After this meeting, the residents can give the Facilitative Housing Worker their input into the housing worker’s decision of whether or not to offer the unit to the applicant.
